Why we write

Straight answers instead of sales talk

Most furniture websites tell you everything is bespoke and beautiful and then hide the price. We'd rather explain how a spotted gum top behaves in a heated room, or why a quote for cabinets came in twice as high as the client expected.

Everything here is written by the people who build the furniture. Marta quotes the jobs, Dev draws the plans, Sione installs them. If a piece of advice doesn't hold up on the bench or on site, it doesn't get published.

What we build

The two jobs behind most of these articles

Nearly every question we get asked in the journal comes back to one of these two services. Worth a look if you're at the planning stage.

Still curious? Ring the studio on +61 3 9482 1765 or write to dealspot@gmail.com.

Please do. Most of what we publish started as a client question on the phone or in the showroom. Send it through the contact form and if we can answer it properly, it becomes an article.

Timber and stone move around, so treat the figures as a guide rather than a quote. For current numbers on your own job, ask us through our pricing page or send a brief.

No. Everything here is written by the workshop team. If a supplier wants to be mentioned, it's because we actually use their product and can vouch for it on the bench.

Our privacy policy covers how we handle your details, and the terms and conditions set out how jobs are quoted, booked and installed.
