How we quote

Fixed prices, not range estimates

Most joinery quotes come back as a range because the person writing it has not measured anything yet. We do it the other way round. A bench hand visits your house, checks the walls, the power points and the floor fall, then we send a single number. That number is what you pay, unless you change the design after signing, in which case the change is priced in writing before we touch a tool.

The figures below are genuine starting points from jobs completed in the last eighteen months. A small galley kitchen sits near the bottom. A nine metre kitchen with stone, integrated appliances and a butler pantry lands well above the top figure, and nobody pretends otherwise.

Payment

How and when you pay

30% to book

Pays for your slot in the schedule and the timber order. Refundable up to seven days before cutting starts.

40% at build start

Due when panels get cut. At this point materials are committed and the work is underway in the workshop.

30% on completion

Paid after installation and your walkthrough, once you are happy with the drawer gaps and door alignment.

EFT or card

Bank transfer, debit card or credit card. Card payments carry a 1.4% surcharge because the bank charges us.

Cancellation terms and deposit refund rules are set out in our refund policy and terms and conditions.

What clients think

Feedback on our pricing, not just our work

Plenty of reviews praise the finish. These ones mention the money, which is the part people actually worry about.

We got three quotes. Two came back as ranges, one as a single number. We went with the single number and it never moved, even when the sparky found old wiring.

The add-ons list was handed to us up front, so there were no mystery line items at the end. We skipped the stone and kept the timber top, and saved about four grand.

Before you sign anything

Questions people ask about price

A flat-pack carcass is cut to a fixed module and you assemble it. Ours is drawn for your walls, cut on our saw and installed by the same people. That difference shows up when a wall is 20mm out of square and somebody has to make a scribe filler that actually fits.

Yes, and most clients do. Send us the model numbers before drawings are finalised so cavities and door clearances are right. If you change appliances after the build starts, the cabinetry change becomes a variation and gets quoted before any cutting.

Anything inside metropolitan Melbourne is free. Outside the ring road we charge a flat $180 travel and accommodation fee, which covers the measure visit and the installation trip. Geelong, Ballarat and the Mornington Peninsula all fall into that group.

If we miss the written install date for reasons within our control, we take $250 off the final invoice for each week of delay. If the delay comes from a supplier, an electrician or you changing the design, that clause does not apply and we will tell you which category it falls into.

No. We are a workshop, not a finance company, and pretending we can carry the risk of lending would mean pricing it in somewhere else. What we can do is split the deposit if you need a month to organise it, provided that does not push you into our busy season.

Guides that go with these numbers

There is more in the workshop journal if you want to read before you ring.

Send us the basics and we will price it

You do not need drawings or a mood board. A photo of the room, rough dimensions and a budget range is enough for us to tell you whether we are the right workshop for the job. Answers usually come back inside one business day.

Or just ring

Talk to Rachel or Marcus

If a form feels like too much, call the workshop between 8:00 and 17:30 on a weekday. Rachel keeps the schedule and can usually tell you on the spot whether your budget and timeline line up with our calendar.
